Give thanks when thanks is due! Thanks to the help of Sutherland Shire Council and the efforts they have undertaken to obtain grants to fund our birds breeding efforts, they may not become extinct within Sydney. To the General Manager of Sutherland Shire Council, your Council Officers Stewart Harris, Brendon Graham and the entire Bushcare team are pulling out all stops to help with this year's nesting of the endangered Pied Oystercatcher on Deeban Spit and are worthy of special thanks. Thank you Council for showing how much protecting endangered wildlife is valued by the community.

Our journey of discovery managing a beach nesters breeding site.

21 September 2015 we found a pair of eggs sitting on the Deeban Spit beach. Thus our crazy journey began. So much to learn.

The opinions expressed in this blog are my own.

So much thanks goes to Sutherland Shire Council, Birdlife Australia and  NSW Office of Environment and Heritage as they have supplied equipment and research required to help ensure our shorebirds, resident or migratory, can survive into the future.
